Anxiety

Anxiety is a feeling of fear or panic as many people feel anxious but overcome it and feel calm and better but for others it may continue for over a period of long time and affect them in their day to day lives and this is when it becomes a problem.

However for some individuals it may be hard to control their worries and it can affect their lives as it happens consistently throughout the day.

There is a specific condition called generalised anxiety disorder (GAD) which is a long term condition making you feel anxious about a variety of events and situations.

GAD cause cause both physical and mental symptoms such as feeling dizzy, worried, having trouble concentrating or sleeping.

There are many ways to treat GAD which could be to go and visit a physiological therapist or get medication to treat GAD.

There are ways to reduce any type of anxiety such as:

  • exercise daily

  • stop smoking

  • cut down on caffeine or alcohol

  • get enough sleep

  • meditate

  • play or hang around with friends or families

Practice relaxation techniques. When practised regularly relaxation techniques such as mindfulness meditation, progressive muscle relaxation, and deep breathing can reduce anxiety symptoms and increase feelings of relaxation and emotional well-being. Exercise regularly.
